The Spirit of Cooperation

Community Champions will be playing our own part in the 2012 International Year of the Cooperatives this Friday by helping direct visitors to the Toad lane Museum & Touchstones here in Rochdale the birthplace of the modern era Global Cooperative movement.

The conference is the culminating event of the 2012 International Year of Co-operatives In addition Fringe events open to the public range from debates on consumer activism from the Move Your Money campaign, which encourages depositors to switch their current accounts away from high street banks, to workshops on climate change to discussions of how returning refugees have been helped by co-operatives in El Savador.

The event lasts from Wednesday 31 October to Friday 2 November and are mostly, though not entirley , based at Manchester Central Convention Complex.
